Abundance of the Heart

I love Sundays.

I love Sundays because early mornings.

I love Sundays because singing and dancing.

I love Sundays because Bible stories.

I love Sundays because laughter.

I love Sundays because fellowship.

My Sundays are chock-full of all of the above and more. I have the immense privilege of leading a small group of fifth grade girls every Sunday morning. And I will be the first to say that it fills parts of my heart that before, only Jesus had been in. These girls are a joy. They are a wise-beyond-their-years, laugh-until-they-cry, one-of-a-kind-extraordinary group of ten and eleven year-olds who have taught me a thing or two about life.

Each Sunday I learn something different about them and from them. They have taught me that pain is something only Jesus can heal. I’ve learned that family is who loves you and who you choose to love. They’ve given me countless lessons on patience, on gentleness, and on prayer. These sweet girls have taught me not only how to teach, but more importantly how to listen–not to the words, but to the heart.

Jesus has chosen to speak to my heart through these precious daughters of His, not just once, but every week. It continues to be an honor to be loved on by these girls and by God; and especially to love God through my time with them.
