1. my love language …is pictures paired with handwritten letters and that’s exactly what I got to craft all over today with one of my favorite people. Taping, cutting, looking, we put the finishing touches on ten beautiful scrapbooks chronicling the past eight years we’ve been a family. Our history is recorded in these books, windows into the past and words scripted with love are inside them. oh my soul.
2. fresh food This is a season of *spontaneity* for my family and me. Today’s round of unplanned events included a trip with my mama to get some yummy food. Nothing special happened outside of the food tasting real good and getting yelled at by a cook, but it’s days like these I will miss the most next year. And that’s worth celebrating.
3. quality time Spending a couple of hours with one of my favorite people today, I felt another wave tsunami of sadness about saying goodbye in a couple of weeks to so many people. Days like this, spent reminiscing about a group of people that fill my heart up, hurt in a deep way. Bittersweet though it may be, and not forever, these goodbyes hurt. But it’s worth celebrating the joy of journey. Always.
4. the unexpected I finished coaching a group of gangly, giggly, gifted sprinters on a track team today, and honestly, I didn’t think I had had much of an impact on them at all, or them on me, but I was wrong. Saying goodbye to those kids today took about twenty minutes of hugs, laughter, and sadness at not seeing them again. Discovering that they actually learned something from me and that I actually meant something to them meant the world. God makes His points loud and clear and the best way.
