twas a fantastic banner day: The Extraordinary Mundane

Twas a fantastic banner day if there ever was one. The other half and I went ‘splorin around downtown, a bucket-list item checked off. We kept the planning and time-watching to a minimum, content to let the day dictate our schedule.
Hitting up spaghetti-ravioli-cheesy-noodley-buttery-comfort-foody-goodness at Spaghetti Warehouse made our hearts and our bellies happy. Catching up over carbs might be one of our favorite things to do together. Best friends are the best excuse for bad food.
Steel City Pops didn’t know what hit them. Avocado and Strawberry Lemonade (so proud of you, friend) dripped down hands and chins as we sat on the concrete, giggling at nothing and everything.

Jesus continues to blow my mind with His love, especially through this girl. Practically growing up with her, I’ve been in a front row seat to a rare, radical kind of friendship, one that God has used to bring new meaning to community and iron to me.
As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend. Proverbs 27:17 NLT
Tuesdays: The Extraordinary Mundane, this day to celebrate the ordinary-ness of life and recognize it for the gift it is, this Tuesday has been special. This soul sister of mine has been a down-the-street best friend, one I can go see on any old Tuesday I want, and now, she’s a home-for-the-holidays best friend, one I have to wait months to see in person. Distance may make the heart grow fonder, but sure is making this one sad-er.
Jesus, thank you for the sweet joy of companionship. Thank you for speaking truth, light, love, and adventure into my life through a best friend. Thank you for growing us together and growing us up to this point, and for now growing us apart in distance, but never in soul. Oh my soul, Jesus, thank you for this best part of living, fellowship for your name’s sake. May it be worship to your name.

Because your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise you. In your name I will lift up my hands. Psalm 63: 3-4
Today was everything mundane and altogether extraordinary. God’s love never fails to hit like a tidal wave in the most distinct and specific ways. It’s like He knows me or something.
