1. my last standardized tests Today I registered for my last three AP tests…ever. Up until this point, there was always another year of high school brimming over with SATs or APs. Now there is only a month and a half left of standardized test stress. It’s freeing and excited to look how far God’s taken me on this road of studying, classes, and scores.
2. spontaneous ice cream runs …specifically with my parents because we never do this. It started with a post-dinner “man-ice-cream-sounds-good-right-now” moment, followed by God’s good and sovereign will, and all of a sudden we were enjoying some real good Chic-fil-a cones. Hash tag blessed.
3. old movies My mom and I have two favorite movies that we always watch together over breaks. We have them practically actually memorized because we’ve seen them so many times, but we still laugh just as hard and love them just as much. Simply hearing the music in these movies puts us in a good mood. Watching them today made me realize that no matter where I am in life, there will always be certain things that don’t change and are able to bring back memories and settle my mind on the constants in life.
4. reading my journal I rarely go back and read what I’ve written in my journals. Usually I think the details are already solidified and clear in my mind. However, today I took the time to read and reflect what I had written, in prayers and quotes and sermons, and rediscovered some great truths. Even though I have a semi-constant and cognitive macro view of God’s work in my life, rereading the details of it over the past several months was pretty amazing. When I can’t see, or when I forget, looking at how He comes through in every situation reminds me of His unyielding grace and sovereign plan.
