1. running in the rain I ran in the rain today. It was cold. The track was slick, and the team was laughing. We’re in the stressed-out-pre-season stage right now, and today was a wonderful break from caring two-pence about it–since we allowed the rain to wash away all those feelings, even if only for a few reps. There’s always one day out of every track season that we have the joy to run soaked-through and well-spent.
2. long nights of unbearable homework The mundane in this is pretty self-explanatory, as is the torture and inhumanity and severe misery. The extraordinary in this is not evident. My head knows there is value and significance to every long night spent in the books, but my heart does not. What my heart does hold fast to, however, is the joy, (a more internal, quiet joy), of thanking God for these nights….and for this homework. This is my life, in all it’s glory. And I thank Him for that.
3. my jewelry I received some pretty sweet bracelets in the mail today, which led me to realize that all the jewelry I wear has some sort of emotional or spiritual significance. And I love that. I love that my necklaces hold promises, that my rings symbolize a beautiful history, two gifts of eager love, and a painful faithfulness. I love that my earrings have stories behind them and that my anklets make a bold statement, support friends, and remind me where part of my heart remains. I love that my bracelets support beautiful ministries and teach me a lesson daily. The jewelry in its physical sense means nothing and holds no real value, but it is a continual and tangible reminder of what means everything and holds much value eternally.
4. right song, right time My morning was made as YouTube Jesus delivered in the song department. Listening to this song, Jesus gave me a big dose of eternal perspective. The song speaks for itself.
Praise the one risen Son of God. Alleluia.
