1. morning prayers As opposed to any-other-time-of-the-day prayers, morning prayers hinder eloquence of words–something that I too often look to instead of authenticity. The brutal honesty of the early hours offers prayers of sincerity and seriousness that can easily get lost among the ever-stressful day. Although I seek to communicate with Jesus throughout the day, the early morning prayers are consistently the ones less said and more heard.
2. the ability to run Whether it be an exhilarating, fast sprint, or a slow, relaxing jog, running evokes not only sweat and endorphins, but joy and thanksgiving. The ability to run is a gift I plan on never abusing, and always cherishing because God has used it to build very specific spiritual muscles in me.
3. cursive A lost art that makes it all the more special, cursive writing is an exclusive use of mine when it comes to letters, journals, and essays. The practice it takes to achieve beautiful cursive speaks volumes of the writer–turning meaningful words into graceful art.
4. my mom’s spaghetti My mom’s spaghetti simply makes me happy. The comfort of its colossal carbs, its always-there-for-you leftovers, and history of family dinners sit in my stomach and heart joyfully. I’m increasingly thankful for a mom who not only knows how to cook well, but to love well through cooking.
